Since 1968, Senior Services has helped older people to live independently and productively. We recognize that most people want to stay in their own homes and neighborhoods as they grow older - to be in familiar surroundings near family and friends. We know that people - both young and old - live happier, healthier lives when they are able to remain active members of their communities.
To that end, the agency provides advocacy, information and services to help seniors, their families, friends and everyone in the community who cares about older adults and the issues that face them.
Senior Services, Inc. of Wichita is happy to provide speakers for civic groups, churches, schools, philanthropic organizations or any other groups interested in learning about senior issues. |

Meals on Wheels Awarded Grant
from MOWAA/Wal-Mart Foundation
Senior Services, Inc. of Wichita was awarded $2,500.00 from the Wal Mart Foundation through the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) to help cover delivery costs. Wal Mart awarded 80 programs in 40 states across America.
Thanks to a generous donation of $750,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation, MOWAA was able to award special grants to 80 local MOWAA Member programs in 40 states to assist them in providing meals to homebound seniors. The "MOWAA/Wal-Mart Foundation Cure Grant Program," as the partnership is called, comes at a crucial time, as Meals On Wheels programs across the country are facing serious financial difficulties due to increased gasoline and food prices, a drop in donations as a result of the economic downturn, and growing demand for services. The winning MOWAA Member programs, which were selected through a competitive grant process, were awarded grants of up to $10,000 to restore their nutrition services and help cure the disease of senior hunger that is plaguing America today.
We congratulate all of the grant winners and thank the Wal-Mart Foundation for stepping up to the plate and joining us in our fight to end senior hunger.
