Senior Centers
Monday-Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additional evening and weekend hours as scheduling requires

Too often people think of senior centers only as places to go to play bingo. Today, older people are more likely to come to our senior centers for yoga, investment seminars, aerobics, legal clinics, job interviews, Spanish classes, computer training or live musical and dramatic performances. Seniors are redefining the ways in which we think of aging and are using senior centers to find new ways to stay involved with friends, both old and new, and to remain actively involved in the community.

Senior Services, Inc of Wichita operates four multi-purpose senior centers throughout Wichita. Each is managed by a full-time center director, and each offers its own mix of educational, recreational, cultural, physical fitness and health-related activities. These activities and their schedules are published in each center’s monthly newsletter or can be reached by clicking on each center’s monthly calendar. All the centers are handicap accessible.

Who can use senior centers?

Participants in center-sponsored activities must be fifty-five or older. However, the Downtown Senior Center and the Northeast Senior Center are available to adults of any age who wish to rent facilities for meetings, performances or other group activities. Call the center director for rental information and scheduling.

Who pays for the Senior Centers?

There is no charge to attend activities at the centers, although some outside instructors may charge a fee for a particular class or activity. The centers do ask for a voluntary $10 annual membership to help defray the costs of programs and administration. The centers are partially funded by Sedgwick County, United Way of the Plains and by private contributions. To donate, please click on HOW TO HELP.
